Liza was called to the First Church of Deerfield in 2017, after serving in a variety of ministries in and around the Valley, at Belchertown United Church of Christ, First Churches of Northampton, and Northampton’s outdoor Cathedral in the Night. A former middle school science and drama teacher, Liza is a 2013 graduate of Andover Newton Theological School, and also holds graduate degrees in Environmental Studies and in Forestry, from Bard College and UMASS-Amherst. David Cavallin
Music Director

A skilled choir director and versatile musician,  David Cavallin is a graduate of the Puerto Rico conservatory of Music, and has worked as a vocal teacher and a piano teacher in a variety of settings, including the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts charter school, where he is currently the Music Department Leader. He joins us as Music Director after several years serving the Congregational Church of Southampton, Massachusetts. “I care deeply about building musical spaces where people feel supported, challenged, connected, and genuinely excited to participate…. More than anything, I’m drawn to communities that value collaboration, openness, and connection through music.”
